Job Requirements & Qualification:

Our client in the downstream sector seeks to fill the role of Tax Accountant who will be responsible for formulating tax strategies and advice Management on all tax related matters.

1. Create tax data collection systems

2. Complete required tax reporting in a timely manner

3. Prepare and update tax provision schedules

4. Continuous/timely update of the company tax database as tax
    rates change

5. Coordinate audits by various taxation authorities

6. Research and correct process errors that caused incorrect tax
    filings.

7. Liaise with tax authorities over tax payment issues.

8. Research the basis for tax positions to be taken and advise
    Management regarding the tax impact of corporate strategies
    and the impact of new laws on tax liabilities.

9. Identify tax savings in prospective acquisition scenarios

10. Prepare/Review other various tax filings: Annual reports,
      Intangible Tax, Sales and Use Tax.

11. Prepare various personal property tax returns.

12. Perform year-end accrual review and prepare the tax provision.
13. Assist in financial planning and analysis.

14. Prepare various federal and state income tax returns.

15. Any other task assigned by Management

16. Files federal, state, and local tax documents by preparing
      property tax returns, state pages, and federal, state, and
      municipal returns, extensions, and quarterly payments.

17. Prepares tax provision schedules by reviewing, preparing, and
      consolidating provision schedules.

18. Recommends tax strategies by researching federal, state, and
      local taxation issues.
19. Maintains legislative materials by reviewing, interpreting, and
      implementing new or revised laws.

20. Maintains compliance with regulations by forwarding required
      information to federal, state, and local authorities.

21. Revises procedures by developing and streamlining procedures
      and worksheets for calculation of tax provisions.

22. Identifies profitability of potential mergers and acquisitions by
     analyzing tax information; calculating key ratios; identifying
     areas of tax savings.

23. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational
      opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining    
      personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

24. Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by
      completing related results as needed.


• Minimum of B.sc/HND in Accounting.
• Must be a Chartered Account (ACA)
• Good knowledge of Nigerian tax laws is mandatory.
• Membership of Chartered Institute of taxation of Nigeria is
   required.
• Minimum of 4 years cognate work experience as tax accountant
  or consultant in a well-structured organization.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel
  and Explorer Internet software; Fast-Track or similar tax software.
• Ability to quickly interpret tax implications of business cases
   when they present themselves.


Remuneration:

Between N2.1m – N3.5m (Gross annual)
